Escape to the Underwater Woods Is a collaborative exhibit by three women photographers. We are diverse in our technical choices but united by the threads of our desires. Strung together by life events, we are mothers, friends, colleagues, wives and visual artists. We make photographs to express our inner emotional fantasies. Our work pours out from beneath our domestic obligations like breastfeeding, nurturing, cleaning, cooking and caring for our families. At times we describe our photographic adventures in the woods and dressing up in costume as our "playtime." We embrace our imaginary friends and demons and transform them through digital collage, ice works and darkroom silver printing into a fantastic visual experience.
